Our school

Student achievement at Gympie East State School is supported by a number of initiatives.

Purchasing of additional teacher aide time contributes to a high level of students achieving above the National Minimum Standard in NAPLAN. An internal learning support teacher works with classroom teachers to achieve the best outcomes through continual assessment and development and review of individual support programs.  Another dedicated teacher runs programs for academically advanced students and students with special talents.

Interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, a computer laboratory to accommodate a whole class; classroom computers; iPads and digital cameras are all used to teach the Australian Curriculum.

Opportunities for students to participate in cultural and sporting events are entered into as curriculum priorities allow.  Three instrumental music teachers visit the school every week.  Students can obtain tennis coaching in lunch hours and enjoy the Gympie Schools Gala Sports Days.

The social climate of the school has a foundation in the high level of involvement of the school parent body in assisting in the classroom and in the Parents and Citizens group. Each term, the Parents and Citizens group organise a family event – a pizza evening in our outdoor learning area, a bowling night, a disco.  These events are funded by the Parents and Citizens group, or at a minimum cost to families.

At Gympie East State School we plan for a positive and successful future while recognising and honouring the traditions of the past.
